Amazing Animals
This popular program highlights an animal from each of the five animal groups: a mammal, a bird, a reptile, an amphibian, and even an arthropod.

Beautiful Birds
Meet some of our amazing avian residents! The program includes 3-4 birds such as a great-horned owl, a barred owl, a red-tailed hawk, and quail. Get up close and personal with these high-flying species and learn what makes birds special in the world of animals.

Animals that Hatch
Everyone knows birds hatch from eggs, but in this program students will learn that animals like salamanders, turtles, snakes, and insects also emerge from shells.

Reptiles & Amphibians
The colorful cast of characters for this program can include animals such as salamanders, toads, leopard geckos, tree frogs, ball pythons, and a variety of turtles.

Pond-ering Water
Students observe ponds, wetlands, and the organisms that call them home, from mammals to microscopic organisms. Test water quality and discover threats to aquatic ecosystems. This program is best onsite at Tanglewood but can be adapted for off-site visits.

SSSnakes
Some people love them, some people don’t, but everyone is fascinated by them! Tanglewood has so many snakes, and we would love to show them to you and talk about their interesting characteristics and behaviors.

Insects & Spiders
Arthropods outnumber all other animals on Earth, making education on these animals critical. The critters encountered at Tanglewood may be scorpions, tarantulas, and smaller arthropods like millipedes and Madagascar hissing cockroaches.

Animal & Plant Defenses
Learn how animals and plants defend themselves. From armor and poison to rolling into a ball, even having sharp spines, nature can do it all!
