Homeschool Drop-In Program: BIRDS

  • 27 Mar 2018
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Homeschooling families - want to get outside on a science expedition, meet other families, and learn about a topic in-depth with hands-on exploration? We are starting a new drop-in program the last Tuesday of the month. Each program will dive into a different topic, and the curriculum is designed to enrich and expand on STEM standards. $5 for a family if you're a member of Tanglewood; if you're not yet a member, $7 for the family.

BIRDS: What makes birds unique? We'll examine feathers and beak anatomy as we learn about the niches that different families of birds fill - from owls to songbirds, ducks to parrots. We'll spread our wings and explore aerodynamics and flight adaptations like bones, organs, eggs, and more. Listen to calls and look for nests on a walk focusing on native bird species in our area. Meet our real live birds, from Sophie the Great Horned Owl to Gridley the falcon.
